In collaboration with several area studies centers, the Department of Linguistics and Germanic, Slavic, Asian and African Languages and Michigan State University's Center for Language Education and Research (CLEAR), the Center for Advanced Study of International Development provides support for MSU's Less Commonly Taught Languages Program.
In recent years, MSU's offerings in these languages have increased dramatically. This includes support in such areas as curriculum planning, materials development and instructional supervision for MSU language classes. This support also is used to develop new course offerings and modes of instruction for less commonly taught languages as well as to provide assistance to language faculty teaching and conducting research in the less commonly taught languages.
