The U.S. Department of Education Title VI funding for the Center for Advanced Study of International Development (CASID) and Women and International Development (WID) includes budget allocations to support core and consulting faculty development and/or program development. CASID and WID have allocated resources for the following priority activity for FY2006-2010:
CASID and WID will make several annual awards of $3,000 of summer salary support for faculty members developing such course modules or courses.
In evaluating requests for funding, CASID and WID will give priority to course modules or courses related to the Global Area and Thematic Initiative (GATI), the Graduate Specialization in International Development, and/or the Graduate Specialization in Gender Justice and Environmental Change.
CASID and WID are committed to developing or enhancing international development and/or gender relations courses in "core" disciplines (e.g., agricultural economics, geography, political science, communities, agriculture, recreation and resource studies) in applied programs and colleges (e.g., business, criminal justice, education, human ecology), and in language across the curriculum.
