grant preparation support

The Center for Advanced Study of International Development (CASID) assists College of Social Science (CSS) faculty prepare and submit proposals to a diverse set of funding agencies in support of multidisciplinary, multiunit research or project collaborations. CASID staff offer grant writing and/or grant or contract administrative support to faculty engaged in collaborative projects or programs involving more than one department. CASID and the Office of International Development (OID) provide complementary support to MSU faculty. OID assists faculty across the university prepare proposals in support of multidisciplinary, multicollege research or project collaborations.

CASID works with CSS faculty in best matching their expertise with various federal/international agency, foundation, and corporation interests and thrusts in international development. CASID staff will advise faculty research/project teams working in international development on ways to identify resources and secure support from federal and other funding sources as well as inform CSS chairs/directors, faculty and staff of specific grants and funding opportunities provided by the federal government and other external funding sources.

CASID staff assists CSS faculty/staff in reviewing funding program guidelines and policies, provides guidance in preparation of proposals and budgets particularly in regard to the technical aspects of proposal preparation, including budgeting, subcontracting and completion of necessary forms and templates, and assists in moving proposals through the MSU contract and grant administration process.

CASID also often serves as the administering unit for international development grant or contract work, handling the program and financial management of specific projects in order to ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
