The Center for Advanced Study of International Development supports the internationalization of teacher preparation at Michigan State University (MSU). One of our most successful programs involves providing funds for the College of Education project, overseen by Professor Chris Wheeler, to help instructors of TE 250 to internationalize their syllabi via professional development training sessions. TE 250, “Human Diversity, Power, and Opportunity in Social Institutions,” is required for all education majors, and thus a very effective focus of internationalizing efforts. During 2003-05, this effort has impacted over 500 undergraduate education majors.
MSU's efforts towards internationalizing teacher education were a highlight of the 2005 Midwest CIES Regional Conference "Internationalization, From Kindergarten to Graduate School" held Sept. 23-25, 2005.
