Marita’s research on antiretroviral (ARV) medications for those living with HIV/AIDS focused on international programs that provide the medicines in Tanzania, particularly looking at issues of development, gender, and governance. Funded by a Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad fellowship in 2007, Marita conducted research with Tanzanian and U.S. government officials, treatment donor organizations, and clinic staffs distributing ARVs, as well as with women accessing the medications. She is currently back at MSU writing her dissertation based on this research.
